Pilgrim's Heart

The Band:

We are a 5 piece band based in the South Lakes playing an eclectic mix of music from light rock, blues to folk with a good sprinkling of our own music.

Dave Livingstone has played in a number of bands over the years, starting in Kirkcaldy and Leicester and, more recently, in the N Lancs/S Lakes area including the legendary rock/folk bands Parcel of Rogues, Kicking Stone and was a founder member of Ahab. Dave is a prolific song writer.

Phil Hull started with the rock/blues band, Off the Back and then joined Dave L in Kicking Stone and was also a founder member of Ahab. Phil writes lyrics.

Steve Roberts has been in Blues/Rock bands since he was 17 years old. He has done session work for the BBC and has written many pieces of chamber music, some of which was played at the Trinity College Music Festival. He composed the music for the Royal Opening of the Studio Theatre in Theatre Clwyd and the church music for his wedding. He also writes blues/rock/jazz/folk songs.

Dave Pennington began as vocalist with Oblivion, who were featured on Border TV. He then switched to drums and played with rockers Public Convenience and punk band Sluglord. After a gap he restarted with Pirate Coyote, now defunct, and now also plays with Bad Blood, all as vocals and percussion/drums.

Steve Roberts, t'other one, is a very well known bass player in the South Lakes area and beyond. He plays in several bands, due to getting easily bored otherwise, and can be seen most Sundays as part of the house band at Staveley Beer Hall. He played bass with Ahab with Dave L and Phil for a short while.

Occasionally trios from the band perform separately as Son of Fred. These performances tend to be acoustic sets.

In May 2015 the band recorded it's first CD, Piston Power, at the Linden Studios, Orton, Cumbria, under the careful guidance of Guy Forrester.
