Fred and the Steam Machine

-The band's name came about when Dave Livingstone, who is a talented artist, offered to do one of his "specials" for Phil as a birthday present. The picture was based on a photograph of Phil's father, Fred, who drove steam traction engines in his younger life and then built a model of his favourite, a Fowler,in his later years. Dave titled the picture "Fred and the Steam Machine" and the rest, as they say, is history.
