Having started to compose music at the age of 10, Pete Ferguson first started to receive recognition while still in high school. His foray into chiptune music, under the alias Supersaiyans, earned him airplay on BBC Radio 1 as well as landing him an interview with respected taste-maker Annie Mac. A cassette of these early tracks eventually made its way into the hands of a mandrill baboon residing in the jungles of Equatorial Guinea. A producer himself, Baboon heard potential and after months of hunting managed to discover Pete's whereabouts: Glasgow. The two began collaborating on music via carrier toucan and so Wuh Oh was born.
Their self titled release was warmly received (Franz Ferdinand's Paul Thomson likened it to 'J Dilla on Irn Bru') and secured them support slots with DJ Shadow, Petite Noir and The Japanese House among others. Fellow producer Sega Bodega soon heard an unreleased demo for their track 'Wolverines' and sent it to Ryan Hemsworth, who fell in love and proceeded to release the song, as well as follow up single 'Hairstyle', on his esteemed Secret Songs label. Clearly a fan, Lucky Me's Eclair Fifi gave 'Hairstyle' its debut spin on her NTS radio show and only a month later granted unreleased track 'Jazz Hand' its first airplay.
Soon Pete again found himself on the radar of the BBC. Wuh Oh were invited to play a live session on Vic Galloway's BBC Introducing show and were later put forward for the BBC Introducing slots at both TRNSMT and Electric Fields Festival on the strength of their wildly creative dance music and explosive live energy. Subsequently they were invited to play Jazz Nights at the Quay on BBC Radio Scotland by producers impressed by the deceptive intricacy and intelligence of the pair's dance floor-ready jams. More support slots swiftly followed, with Com Truise, Slugabed and BDY_PRTS all handpicking Wuh Oh to join their bills.
Very much aware of the buzz surrounding the duo, the Radisson RED recently asked Wuh Oh to play the launch night of their first ever hotel in the UK, opening this Spring.
Furthermore, Wuh Oh are diversifying their fan base by exploring new media and recently granted Andrew Rea, the creator of popular Youtube channel 'Binging with Babish', whose videos regularly hit over a million views, use of one of their tracks as the theme song for Rea's latest show, 'Basics with Babish'
Wuh Oh are currently sitting atop an empire of unreleased material, much of which will be released throughout 2018. Until now, numerous baboon problems have prevented Baboon from being able to perform live with Wuh Oh. However, as of February the duo will finally be able to play together onstage. Just in time for the duo's most hectic year yet!
