The story behind the beats

It all started with a synth, a drum machine and a reel-to-reel tape deck in a dark corner of suburbia in 1981. The tech wizard was Paul, the musician was Geoff, the legacy a box full of TDK D90s no one ever heard.

Since then there has been a record deal, four kids, the Acid House generation, careers, a brief encounter with the outer limits of the top 40, and loads more music that nobody ever heard.

Until now...

Transistor Brothers still write their own tracks, but are currently performing their unique electronic dance versions of classic pop songs.

Geoff and Paul met at school in 1981 and quickly cemented their passion for electronic music. Recording with basic, and often home-made equipment, they recorded a catalogue of original electronic tracks.

​Their passion for analogue synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines grew and their kit list soon included such behemoth beasts as the Yamaha CS5, Roland D-50, Roland SH-101, MC-202, Juno 106 and a legendary Roland TR-808.

Time moved on and their lives took them in different directions.

Fast forward 20 years and they reunited to form Transistor Brothers.

Now, using state-of-the-art tech, the TBs have taken their special blend of electronic synth-pop, electro-disco and EDM from their home studios and out onto the dance floors of London and Essex.
