THE SOMNAMBULIST is an international music project formed in Berlin, in 2009. The debut album of the band, “Moda Borderline” (Acid Cobra, 2010) has been followed up by “Sophia Verloren” (Solaris Empire, 2012), two records which drew attention from the critics to a persuasive, sharp and energetic music, characterized by a strong personal mark and an emotionally charged impact on stage. After many collaborations with various musicians from the local indie, experimental and jazz music scenes (like Chris Abrahams of The Necks, Hanno Stick of Missincat and members of 17 Hippies, among many others) the band’s line-up settled around the songwriter Marco Bianciardi, Thomas Kolarczyk (also bass for Roye Ma), and Luca Andriola (ex-drummer of Ulan Bator). On summer 2015 the band did record all the unreleased music written during the last 5 years, while touring all over Europe, for the next album "Quantum Porn", scheduled for release in 2016 and to be preceded by a series of singles; an album which is shaping up to be an engaging and stratified leap in the band's sound, like their first single "Transverberate" testifies to. THE SOMNAMBULIST is used to tour also in movie theatres, proposing an original live soundtrack for the German silent movie “Berlin - Die Sinfonie der Großstadt” (directed by Walter Ruttmann in 1927), work commissioned in 2011 by the Centre Jean Vigo of Bordeaux with the support of Goethe Institut, which lately won the 2014 Award of the Rimusicazioni Film Festival in Bolzano, Italy.
