THE TRAPS are a London and Brighton based four piece. They consist of brothers Jamie Berry (vox / guitar) and Nick Berry (bass / vox) as well as James Minhas (guitar) and Daniel Webb (drums), and have done so since 2011.
The Traps, will be releasing their second album, 'Wild Escape', on February 26th 2016 on independent label Speech Fewapy Recordings and Label Fandango. The album will be released digitally through itunes, spotify, amazon and also on limited release 12” vinyl through The Traps website.
Following on from its predecessor, 'Calypso', released in September 2013, 'Wild Escape' cuts a more suave, sophisticated musical figure. A record of expansive sound and ambition, its an explosion of melody that signifies a real step-on in the band's abilities. Littered with the infectious hooks and ethereal harmonies, that have been in evidence in all of the band's recent releases, 'Wild Escape' marks an exciting new dawn for The Traps in 2016.
Recorded across the summer of 2015 by the multi-instrumentalist, multi-faceted Rob Jones (The Voluntary Butler Scheme, The Gene Dudley Group, Sweet Baboo) - desk duties for 'Calypso' also - at Giant Wafer studios in North Wales, 'Wild Escape' marks the first release for The Traps since their 'Club Fandango' single 'September Storm' back in Early 2015. Previous 'Club Fandango' double A-side release 'Imposter/My Grip' saw the band play a sell out show at prestigious London venue, The Lexington; a night the band look set to repeat when they return there on April 2nd 2016.
A successfully funded Kickstarter campaign securing the vinyl release of the record has shown the appeal of the band's sound, and the audience reached and won over by 'Calypso'. With live dates planned for early 2016 to mark the release of 'Wild Escape' be sure to catch them wherever you can.
