Young British band The Kites hail from Yorkshire. Brothers Joe (Singer) and Ollie (Drummer) met Jake (Guitarist) at secondary school. Through a shared passion for songwriting the line-up was complete when they met Élodie (Bassist) at a songwriter camp and formed The Kites.
Their shared musical experience has helped carve out their sound into what it is today. Punchy indie pop guitars meet hook laden generational lyrics, creating a sound that is as sky high in ambition as the band’s name suggests.
The Kites are already gathering momentum with a dedicated fan base and debut festival slot on the DORK stage at Live At Leeds In the Park 2023 and opening Leeds Festival 2024 on the Festival Republic stage. Championed by BBC Introducing Yorkshire & Leeds radio, with plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6, this young band are inspired by a diverse range of music artists and draw on their individual influences with a clear vision of the live show.
With their debut EP Postcode and recently released follow-up EP Headlights, The Kites have followed the trusty formula of releasing unrelenting guitar bangers that sound custom-made for radio airwaves, festivals, headline shows and everything in between.
An incredibly talented young band there really is no stopping them. Live they are a reminder of the joys of what being in a band should be.
