'Fruits Of Life' is an ode to modern life. It captures the feeling of watching those who have the world in their hands, time and time again throw away their chance at happiness. Now more than ever, this is important, as we are in a time of uncertainty. Not to let go of the things that matter most; to not live in an egotistical and selfish manner.
Known as an authentic musician with rich blues vocals, over the past six years Sarah has been making a name for herself. As an experienced bassist, guitarist and vocalist, she has gigged extensively across the UK and Internationally. When performing solo, Sarah combines folk and blues alongside her poetry.
"A captivating and reflective track which shows off her tremendous song writing skills and rich dulcet tones, hinting at her huge potential marking her as a new artist to watch for in the coming year."
"Sarah Shiels returns with hypnotic folk-pop that takes queues from Jacqui Abbott and while simultaneously embodying Shiels’ grit, and drive to create a legacy that is all her own. With a track like ‘Fruits Of Life’, Sarah goes a long way towards solidifying herself as one of the more notable voices in Yorkshire."
“The first thing you notice while listening to ‘Fruits of Life’ is Sarah’s deep, strong voice. Rich and raspy, emotional, touching your very soul. Sarah Shiels has the ability to make me feel blue, in the best sense of the word. Who needs sunshine and rainbows when you can be delightfully sad. She already is one of the best new voices on the Yorkshire scene and she can only go up from there."
Rita Dabrowicz, Indie Midlands
"Sarah's list of influences is very interesting, name-checking Elliott Smith, Leonard Cohen and Suzanne Vega; glimpses of which can be detected in the DNA of this her stunning debut recording."
