Red Ray & The Reprobates

Self-described “dirty, working-class motherfuckers,” the Reprobates are a microcosm of the times – angry young men whose new album – Red Ray and the Reprobates – perfectly encapsulates a state-of-being felt by anyone struggling to get-by in uncertain times. From Quicksand, and Hard Luck Barnaby, to Giant Song; The Reprobates’ music is harsh, hilarious, and a righteous litany against the Sisyphean toil of life in an uncaring, neon world. The retro, Cash-esque stage presence, interwoven with traces of Punk, Grunge, and Brit-Pop, gives a delightfully raucous voice to a generation left-behind.

Red Ray and the Reprobates released their album at The Old Bookshop on the 30th of September 2017, but there’s no rest for the wicked! Plans to get back in the studio to record their next album ‘They Only Like You When You’re Dead’ are already in motion Ray and co. plan on hitting the ground running, with even more summer festival tours in the works. There have been an eclectic mix of gigs thus far, including Russell Hill’s Country Music Show on 93.7 Express FM, Portsmouth Radio, BBC Radio Bristol Camp WildFire 2017, Grillstock 2017, the Gloucester Food Festival, St. Weighburghs Farm Festival, themed nights at The Steam Crane, The Golden Lion and the Reprobates’ favourite haunt – The Old Duke, on King Street. Those intending on attending any of the aforementioned shows are forewarned that the Reprobates’ take no responsibility for the wearing-away of shoe soles through excess dancing, nor the irreparable shattering of individuals’ preconceptions of the Country genre.

But, whether you’d describe them as Western, Blues, or Post-Punk rebels, one thing is absolutely etched into the scorched Earth, left in the wake of Red Ray and the Reprobates: This ain’t your dad’s country music! ‘Red Ray and the Reprobates’ will be available for purchase on all platforms, from 30/09/2017.
