After a chance phone call with a friend-of-a-friend brought brothers Jesse and Louis Baker together with Joshua Gibbs, the foundations for Pin Ups’ idiosyncratic sound was set. Hailing from the Norfolk countryside and London respectively, the three’s mixed bag of location, influences and personalities have formed a unique dynamic, omnipresent in everything they do.
Citing influences ranging from Rick James to The Cramps, from The Horrors to pretty much anything Damon Albarn has done, their music is suitably unpredictable; self-defined as simply 'Wonk Rock'. Their exuberant live show has been described as 'tight, bold, confident and powerful', earning them support slots with the likes of Yak, Ugly and Buzzcocks, as well a spot at Wild Paths Festival 2019.
Having spent over 4 months separate due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the band have stayed busy, releasing the Home Demos EP, starting their own podcast and writing a whole host of new material set for release in late 2020. Armed with fresh ideas, perspective and desire, there is no doubt that the band will come bursting out of the gates as soon as the world returns to some sort of normality.
