Lovepet Horror is the singer-songwriter Scott Clark. The Debut EP was released in January 2019 and had a CD release show at Rough Trade Bristol on the 13th September. Scott takes influence from The Beatles, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Syd Barrett, XTC and many more.
The songs are quite varied but have roots within the ideas of Lennon-McCartney and Syd Barrett, in terms of the importance of melody, Art and experimentation. The band has been described as ‘Idiosyncratic Pop’, with its unusual Barrett like Chords and 60’s pop/rock Indie melody.
To some extent Bristol has been pigeon holed for the trip-hop genre and attempted punk scenes of the 80’s and although there are small clusters of similar young bands, the 60’s British inspired ones are either unrecognised or have not yet been established into the mainstream. They wish to provide an alternate option to Idles, Massive attack and Portishead, aswell as pushing to write better songs on each release.
