Kids Club Kampala is a children’s charity which aims to bring hope and love to vulnerable children and to transform poor communities in Uganda. Founded in 2009, Kids Club Kampala was set up to overcome the lack of hope and self-esteem of children living in situations of extreme poverty, and works to empower children and women from disadvantaged communities to bring about sustainable changes through different development projects and supporting their basic needs.
Kids Club Kampala is now working in 17 underprivileged communities, the majority urban slums in Kampala, helping over 4000 children and their families every week. The children that Kids Club Kampala are working with come from extremely poor households; many families often survive on just one meal per day and cannot afford to send their children to school. People live in very overcrowded conditions, sanitation is poor, and disease and illness is rife. To add to this, the slums are notorious for crime and violence at night, children are often abused, forced to work on the streets or simply abandoned.
Kids Club Kampala is making a huge difference to the lives of many children and individuals in the slums of Uganda. KCK is working to bring hope, joy and love into these children’s’ lives through fun and games, football, music, dance and supporting their basic needs. Alongside this, children are fed and clothed and helped with their education. Kids Club Kampala also works with women from the communities to help them increase their incomes and get their families out of poverty, along with supporting vulnerable girls and helping children who have been abandoned have a safe place to live.
