Hastings Philharmonic is the artistic body that brings together the Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra (the first fully professional orchestra in Hastings since the 1940s), the Hastings Philharmonic Choir and the Hastings Philharmonic Chamber Choir.
Establishing a fully professional orchestra in Hastings was an idea that some would have thought to be far-fetched just over a year ago. Only in a place with such vibrancy and with such inspiring people could this initiative be possible.
The first season proved that our loyal audience is keen to hear high quality classical music, and that the broader Hastings scene, and the South East region, welcome a young and dynamic professional orchestra alongside the tradition of the Hastings Philharmonic Choir. This new season brings further exciting initiatives. We are aiming to offer our growing and very loyal audience a much bigger selection of concerts, including choral symphonic music, choral a cappella music, purely symphonic music, opera, chamber music, our traditional Christmas carols concert, and a Tango Night fundraising event. The full season includes 15 different events.
This marks another exciting step in our journey as Hastings Philharmonic. We hope to add to the rich cultural tapestry in Hastings by continuing to develop high quality musical and artistic productions, thereby enhancing Hastings' reputation as a centre of cultural excellence in the UK.
For the official opening of the 2017/2018 season, on Friday 13th October, Kenneth Broberg - the 2017 winner of the Hastings International Piano Concerto competition, and Silver Medallist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition - makes his debut with the Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra. We hope to see you there, and indeed at many of our future concerts.
