Wash
Freeda released Wash on the 1st of November through Spotify, ITunes and all major streaming platforms.
‘Wash’ is a song that plays with the idea of two people letting themselves drift apart as they realise neither person was who the other thought. Although animosity shines through at first, the protagonist soon deals with emotions of moving on, implying that rising above may be the better option. ‘Wash’ displays how far Freeda have progressed both musically and lyrically in the last year. Combining synths and electronic elements with the traditional guitar based sound, their latest single successfully bridges the gap between modern pop and classic indie.
Freeda are a five piece Indie Rock band from Manchester. Forming in early 2017, they spent their first year establishing themselves in their hometown, selling out headline shows along the way and progressing to iconic venues such as Manchester Academy 2 and The 02 Ritz.
In 2018, the band played shows from Manchester to Paris and performed at Dot 2 Dot and Cotton Clouds festivals. Working with highly acclaimed production duo Sugar House, they released their first two singles ‘Plug It In’ and ‘Go Home’ which received airplay on Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing.
“A fine exhibition as to why Manchester bands have got something special in their sound.” - The National Student
At the start of 2019 Freeda released two singles ‘Replay’ and ‘Plead’, both of these went on to reach in excess of 20,000 streams on Spotify, received extensive backing from XS Manchester and continued support from Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing. By April the band had already played their biggest hometown shows to date at Manchester Academy 2 and St Philip's Church. Following a busy festival season, including performances at Y Not Festival, 110 Above, Blackthorn festival and more, Freeda finished off the year selling out their biggest headline hometown show at The Deaf Institute. Having established themselves as one of Manchester's fastest bands, 2020 looks set to be a breakthrough year.
Wash is the third single to be taken from the bands upcoming EP which is set to be released at the start of next year. Merging synth backed guitar riffs with hooky vocal melodies and big choruses, Freeda’s upbeat sound takes influences from as far back as early Bob Dylan yet still manages to sound distinctly modern.
