Manchester-based Freeda released their new single ’Sundown’ via Ditto Music to all DSPs on 10th September 2021. Formed in 2017, Freeda spent their formative years establishing themselves in their hometown, building a committed following and selling out headline shows along the way.
Highlights so far include selling out their headline slot at the iconic Deaf Institute in Manchester, playing numerous festivals including Y Not Festival, Tramlines, Dot 2 Dot and 110 Above, and amassing over 500,000 views across social media platforms for their series of videos “The Corona Sessions”. 2019 also saw the band start up a production partnership with highly acclaimed production duo Sugar House.
After a successful run of festivals and single releases over 2019, Freeda were determined not to let lockdown slow them down over 2020/21. Over this period Freeda released three singles: ‘Let Me Down’,‘ 5AM’ and ‘Young’, which saw the band reach in excess of 250,000 streams on Spotify and gain their first National Radio playlisting on Radio X. In June 2021, in partnership with Sugar House, Freeda released their latest single ‘Young’ which received extensive backing from BBC Introducing and continued support from XS Manchester and Amazing Radio.
To celebrate the release of their latest single “Sundown”, Freeda played a headline show in their hometown at Manchester Academy 3 - their largest headline show to date.
Sundown, the third single from Freeda in 2021, delves into a new more synth-driven sound with fast-paced vocal melodies and punching choruses. Sundown expresses the fun and excitement of the freedoms we enjoy, something that is needed after all we have experienced over the past two years. Once again Freeda are reaching for something new and Sundown is definitely one of their most stand-out songs to date.
