Based in Liverpool, ETCHES are five musicians from different corners of England with a mutual affection for understated electronics, ear-catching melodies and intricate arrangements.
Their first demo 'Let's Move In' received a wealth of attention. The track gained airplay from XFM (as John Kennedy’s ‘X-Posure Hot One’), BBC Radio 1 Introducing and Amazing radio. It was included in Communion’s weekly mail-out as track of the week, and generated impressive blog buzz through the likes of Tom Robinson’s Fresh On The Net, Louder Than War and The Von Pip Musical Express.
Following the release of Let's Move In, the band released a brooding cover of Marvin Gaye’s classic ‘I heard it through the Grape Vine’, recorded in Elevator studios for Bido Lito! Magazine. The track accumulated over 6,000 plays in a month; it’s live performance becoming a talking point of reviews following their opening set of Art Rockers New Blood festival.
Their second release, ‘The Charm Offensive’, came out on London label Club the Mammoth Feb 24th, following a sold out single launch at the Sebright Arms in London. In the following weeks The Charm Offensive attracted press from NME, Q Magazine and The 405; as well airplay on BBC Radio 1 Introducing, 6 music & XFM, and a featured live session for BBC Radio Merseyside’s Introducing show with veteren producer Steve Levine (Culture Club, The Beach Boys).
After the free release of new track ‘David’, ETCHES begin a tour with BRNS in May. It includes shows at Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape Festival in Brighton and Les Nuits Botanique in Brussels, followed later in the summer by an appearance at Kendall Calling festival.
