Dusty Cut was formed by Phil Jones in Bristol and played indie folk songs at house parties where everyone wanted to listen to dubstep. Tom Holcroft joined the band after meeting on the Bristol open-mic circuit. This forged the warm Dusty Cut sound that incorporates moody folk, 70s rock and a slight hint of strangeness inspired by eccentrics like Sufjan Stevens, Arthur Russell and Joanna Newsom.
Dusty Cut's lyrics are about events in Phil's life and bigger things out in the world, singing about friendships and loves gained and lost, fights in restaurants, ancient cities and the sea. The band is now based in Cardiff with Tom Dyer on drums, Thom Hollick on bass and Carmen Horrocks on lots of other instruments.
Dusty Cut's debut EP 'Didn't Stay' was released in May 2015 and is available from www.dustycut.com. Singles 'Mesopotamia' and 'Summer Song' from Dusty Cut's forthcoming debut album 'Hawaii' are out now.
