Dance Like I've Got Diamonds is a London-based event-promoter established in 2016.
What sets us apart from other promoters is our vision to empower women in music and only book female talent for our shows. We believe that by providing a platform for female musicians to perform and express themselves, we can inspire more women to get involved in the music community, whether it is on or behind the stage. With our events we also aim to raise awareness of the gender inequalities facing the UK music industry today and open up for a discussion on how to these issues can be resolved.
Dance Like I've Got Diamonds was created by four Music Business undergraduates at BIMM London in January 2016. Their first event took place on the 17th May that same year, at venue 229 in London, and was an immediate success. However, not long after that initial event, two out of the four founders were forced to leave their positions due to other commitments and Isabelle Ljungqvist and Lisa Lindfors were left fully in-charge of the organisation.
Together with their all-female team, Ljungqvist and Lindfors have kept Diamonds’ original vision going – to empower women in music – whilst gradually expanding their operations and hitting new targets. In March 2017, Diamonds produced their biggest show to date – a completely sold out International Women’s Day event at The George Tavern in East London, an event which caught the interest of publications such as Time Out London, The Evening Standard, The Line Of Best Fit and Gigslutz.
Moving forward, Dance Like I’ve Got Diamonds are determined to keep on challenging the UK live scene, where female musicians are often underrepresented, by putting on high-quality events showcasing some of the most exciting female talent at the moment.
