BIOGRAPHY
coldrain was formed in the spring of 2007 in Nagoya, Japan after 5 members from two local bands decided to get together and become more than just local.
A year after becoming a band, coldrain signed with Japanese Major label VAP inc. alongside Gil Soundworks as management to release their first single 'Fiction'. Soon after releasing the single, the band opened the first ever TASTE OF CHAOS JAPAN which featured bands such as Story OF The Year, As I Lay Dying and MUCC. In April of 2009 the band released their 2nd single '8AM'' which was used as the ending theme for a popular anime television series called 'Hajimeno Ippo' Later that Summer, the band performed at one of Japan’s biggest rock festivals - ‘Summer Sonic' - for the first time. Shortly after, the band went into the studio to record their first full length album 'Final Destination'.
'Final Destination' featured 12 tracks including the two previous singles and the lead title track "Final Destination". The promo video for "Final Destination" has had over 1,000,000 views on YouTube making the song a fan favourite when performed live.
In April 2010 the band opened the main stage for the first Japanese punk rock festival 'PUNK SPRING 2010' playing in front of more than 6,000 people and opening for bands like New Found Glory, Youmeatsix and 311.
In June 2010 the band released the EP titled 'Nothing Lasts Forever' The lead track for the EP , Die Tomorrow”, was featured in one of the biggest Japanese made sports video games called Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven’ making the band's name known to a worldwide audience. The music video for "Die Tomorrow" has had over 2,000,000 views on YouTube making it one of their best known songs. The 2nd track on the EP titled "We're Not Alone" was used as the opening theme for the anime series 'Rainbow' which was aired on late night national television. The EP also features a cover of Stacie Orricos smash hit 'Stuck'. In the summer the band opened one of the main stages for 'SUMMER SONIC' putting them on the same stage as bands like 30 Seconds To Mars and The Smashing Pumpkins.
In early 2011 coldrain released their sophomore album 'The Enemy Inside' including singles 'To Be Alive' and 'Rescue Me' .The band sold out tour dates on their headline tour throughout Japan with capacities of up to 1,000 fans. The final three dates of the tour were filmed and made into the bands first ever live DVD "Three Days Of Adrenaline"
In the Spring of 2012 the band flew to New Jersey for the first time to record their 2nd EP 'Through Clarity' with award winning producer David Bendeth. The lead track from this record 'No Escape' was featured in the television commercial for the video game "Resident Evil : Operation Raccoon City" . The EP debuted at Number 8 on the daily chart putting them at Number 14 for the first week on the Japanese national chart. In September the band started their headline tour playing 11 dates inside of Japan Selling out every venue.
The end of 2012 the band flew back to New Jersey to record their 3rd full length album 'THE REVELATION', once again with David Bendeth. After finishing recording the album, coldrain flew to Taiwan to perform on the main stage of the MEGAPORT FESTIVAL drawing in more than 5,000 people to their set. In March the band returned to Japan to co-headline the MONSTER ENERGY OUTBURN TOUR 2013. Every date of the tour was completely sold-out.
"THE REVELATION" was released on April 17th debuting on the Japanese national daily chart at 4th place putting them at 7th for the first week selling 10,000 copies, and continues to sell strongly.
After conquering Japan, the band now sets it’s sights on the rest of the World after signing a global management deal with Raw Power Management and joining the stellar roster of The Agency Group for Worldwide bookings.
