Colleen grew up on the prairies of Alberta and Saskatchewan and is now a force on the Canadian music scene, traveling coast to coast, singing and playing guitar, piano, and bass (in her rock side-project The Secretaries). She writes music that takes on the subjects of love, fate, and psychic retooling; she is often compared to Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Heart.

Brown recently recorded sessions in Halifax with beloved Can-rocker Joel Plaskett, as well as Toronto and LA with Raymond Richards (Local Natives), part of which was released on her teaser EP – Direction 1: Major Love. It's a taste of the musical re-direction she takes on the new album, Direction (due March 2015).

Colleen has always been propelled by her passion for songwriting and performance. You may remember Brown’s previous albums- 2011’s Dirt, or 2008’s Foot in Heart - both albums received regular airplay across Canada and were praised by critics nationwide. The Globe and Mail said of Brown, “The talents of this Edmonton-based musician shine like a beacon. Her boldly written originals… have the good bones and great melodic rhythm of classic big-screen pop songs from the sixties and seventies.” And Rich Terfy (aka. Buck 65) of CBC Radio 2 Drive compared Foot in Heart, “(to) some of the best music you heard on pop-radio back in the ‘70s… I love this album.” She’s shared stages with Frank Black, Jim Cuddy, Jakob Dylan, Kathleen Edwards, Hawksley Workman, Don MacLean, and appeared on CBC’s Q and Canada Live.
