Following the release of his ARIA Award-nominated, critically acclaimed album South of Everywhere, Henry Wagons returns today with Freight Train (Going South), the first cut from his brand new cosmic country masterwork, The Four Seasons (to be released August 16 via Cheatin' Hearts Records). At its core, this first single is a pulsing, ever-building, “train and pain” song. Listen HERE.

Of the new single, Henry Wagons explains: “Did you ever get the feeling that everything around you is going downhill, fast, and nobody is listening to you scream it from the rooftops? The whirlpool is sucking everyone into the drain at the bottom of the bathtub. The downward pull has a momentum as forceful and as noticeable as a freight train, going South, but no one is paying attention. But, let’s not forget, a train ride can be amazing and transformative, so let’s strap ourselves in the caboose and take the wild ride into oblivion.”

Freight Train (Going South) was written alongside Wagons’ longtime musical collaborator Si “The Philanthropist”, and sees Si sing a cushioning blanket of backing vocals, along with Canadian whizz Matt Kelly on pedal steel and Liam McGorry (Ex-Olympian, Saskwatch and Eagle and the Worm) on trumpet. Henry Wagons plays all other instrumentation.

The upcoming album, The Four Seasons, is a modern Morricone-esque, outlaw surf trip. Get ready to pack your bag for a psychedelic, hypnotic party for your headphones, and expect to take a journey through its numerous songs and instrumentals, ideas and landscapes, whilst seamlessly changing with the four seasons.
