ABH Promotions present "ABH Promotions 5th Anniversary featuring Shelf Lives + Wych Elm + Currls"
Shelf Lives: Uniting from Toronto and Northampton respectively, but now based in London, Shelf Lives is the brainchild of vocalist Sabrina Di Giulio and guitarist/producer Jonny Hillyard. Previous projects like ‘Yes, offence’ lean heavier on the dancy outbursts of guitar riffs by marrying extravagant beats with darkly comedic hooks. This is a recipe Shelf Lives has consistently kept true to, and the results take shape in sonic emblems that never fail to tell an invigorating story. At the forefront, the band makes energetic pop songs that bring the abrasiveness and physicality of punk back to a small, cramped house party setting. Creating music so rowdy you can practically feel the sweat on the ceiling and the sound of crushed cans under your feet, Shelf Lives have won over scores of praise from the likes of NME, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, and Jack Saunders of BBC Radio 1.
Pairing hardcore punk’s brief bursts of energy with electroclash’s minimal and sleazy sonics, Shelf Lives raise themes of societal collapse and hyper-consumerism with a warped smile. Most recently, Shelf Lives prismatic brand of exciting electro-punk has enabled them slots at The Great Escape Festival, FOCUS Wales, Liverpool Sound City, and Glastonbury Festival. Though Shelf Lives have only been a band since 2021, the exhilarating duo have supported an impressive roster of artists including a full EU/UK tour with Skunk Anansie to performing on shows alongside THUMPER, Skating Polly, and Panic Shack.
Wych Elm: A pixie-esque howl atop a grungey bass infused rumble that emanates from the shadows. This three-piece from Bristol are pure aphotic aural gratification. Aligning menace to melody, desire to (their beguiling din) and spooky curiosity to their lyrics - a powerful package.
Currls: The future of DIY is here - Forming in Brighton, Currls are a DIY Garage Rock band that burst onto the scene in 2017 and have since become a formidable presence in the underground music scene. Seamlessly blending raw Garage rock, fast-paced Punk, and sludgy Pop, Currls is a sonic powerhouse that will leave you feeling ready to take on the world. Since their inception, Currls have gained notable support from BBC 6 Music’s Amy Lamè, Marc Riley, Steve Lamcaq, BBC Radio 1’s Alyx Holcombe and BBC Introducing’s Melita Dennett.
Recent triumphs include winning Record Store Day's 'Unsigned 2023' competition, recording a 'BBC Introducing Live Session' at Maida Vale Studios, and a 'BBC 6 Music: Live In Session' with Marc Riley. The band also secured a spot on ‘Glastonbury Festival's Emerging Talent longlist’ back in 2022. In a world saturated with conformity, Currls stands as a beacon of authenticity - A trio that defies expectations and leaves an everlasting imprint on the hearts of those who dare to listen.
“CURRLS are a rallying cry. Scuzzy riot grrrl inspired pop-punk made for the main stage. Authentic, snarling and converting you to the band’s cause as she goes.” - Lauren Down (Line Of Best Fit)
