The world, and land, should not be "owned" as we are all of the same race; human. So what gives anyone the right to refuse refuge? Because we 'can't afford to let more people in' when they are dying or sacrificing themselves to save their children as upsetting events and tyrants are causing them to live in fear? Because it 'could damage our economy'?
