at the Glad Cafe
reserve your spot here
Join us for this free, fun family matinee performance! The Annette Street Drummers will leave you feeling full of their beats and their joy. Plus a guest appearance by a local musician, Supermann on Da Beat! a Scottish hip-hop producer and disability rights activist channelling trap, metal and boom bap:
“Supermann on da beat, aka Sanjeev Mann, has had a meteoric rise in Scotland’s hip-hop scene since teaching himself production skills by watching YouTube videos during the pandemic. His prodigious output has seen him collaborate with numerous artists including Chef The Rapper, Kapil Seshsayee, Viv Latifa, Randombrownkid, P Caso and Conscious Route, as well as Chicago-based Rockie Fresh, who responded to an Instagram message asking him to guest on the recent single dedicated to his city.”
- Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon, The Scotsman
“The Annette Street Drummers is our long-running group drumming project working with pupils at Annette Street Primary in Govanhill. Currently supported through Creative Scotland's YMI strand and your generous donations, the Annette Street Drummers gives an amazing music-making opportunity to young people living in some of the most challenging circumstances in our city. Together with their dedicated instructors, they learn skills on different styles of drum, create original compositions, and perform together throughout the city.”
