Sureshaker presents:
Gold Member @ Lord Gladstone, Stay On Tour
Gold Member
Sydney's Alt-R'&B cosmonauts have recently performed at Woodford Festival 19/20 over the New Year. Playing 5 shows over 7 days and celebrating the New Year at the Amphitheatre. They’ve just finished up supporting The East Pointers (CAN) this month and already have a new track to roll out. A mixed breed of producers and singer-songwriters, Gold Member swing in the space between the palms and the wild, blue galaxy, launching sultry and soulful, sample soaked songs into the solar system.
‘Stay On’ their latest single, is their most charged track. Speaking about Indigenous identity in white Australia, and the struggles of living in a system of cultural oppression. Az explains: *“‘Stay On’ is a perspective on white privilege and the way indigenous people have had their way of life and identity robbed from them, their culture not being acknowledged and respected enough, and their country being stolen and destroyed for a white man’s capitalist agenda. Modern society expects indigenous people to simply cope and change our identity to fit in their way of life.” *
Live, Gold Member are high energy. A blend of beat driven, freaky, synth wig outs and soulful interplanetary vocals. They bounce tracks through a musical outer-verse that includes Maribou State, Lime Cordiale, Nick Murphy and Bob Moses. The trio have played: Woodford Festival (QLD), BayDreams (NZ), Beyond the Valley (VIC), The Big Pineapple (QLD), Bello Winter Music Fest, Wollombi Music Festival, supported BOO Seeka and Lime Cordiale. In July/Aug last year, they travelled to Europe/UK for some summer festivals and supporting Aussie faves, Ocean Alley, in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Gold Member are touring the single around the country plus more new tunes from their upcoming release. Catch them live this Feb/Mar.
