British Singer/Songwriter, Steve Young’s music, has been described as “Acoustic Pop/Rock with a Country Twang” and a voice noted as “Powerful & Incredible” by some of the industry’s leading protagonists. His career as a session guitarist began in earnest after TV appearances with Lionel Richie resulted in getting fired from his day job for faking illness – his boss saw him on the Graham Norton show that same day. Steve’s long and diverse career has covered many genres but his original music is very much flavoured with the Country/Americana influences that dominated his childhood years. The world has been the musical home for singer/songwriter STEVE YOUNG, these past years, its length and breadth travelled as his talents as a session guitarist were sought and embraced by a host of popular artists. Recently though, it has been his own magnetic fusion of acoustic pop and alternative country which has been drawing attention and acclaim across the globe with increasing success.

Steve began his musical career moving from the Isle of Wight to join the London based rock band 'Rehab'  signed to ZTT/Warner. This took him around the UK through several national tours. From there his string craft saw him play with the likes of Lionel Richie, Peter Andre, Gareth Gates, Delta Goodrem. In 2007, Steve was invited to become the touring guitarist for Darren Hayes, the former Savage Garden front man; a job that took him from The Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena to Sydney State Theatre, across Europe, Canada, the USA, Australia as well as a host of TV & Radio performances including BBC Radio 2’s Terry Wogan & Jo Whiley

Steve became a co-writer on Darren Hayes’ 2012 album “Secret Codes & Battleships” before joining forces, in 2012, with West End Superstar, Ramin Karimloo (Phantom, Les Mis, Miss Saigon). The years were a busy and exciting time, and the opportunities to explore his own musical ideation were scarce. Until 2013, however, when work and life events sparked an inspiration for Steve to begin working on his own material embracing a love of blues, rock and country. A new creative fire was lit within him; songs emerging with a fresh voice whilst benefitting from experiences gained from the past years. Debut EP, “Little Things”, was the first potent evidence of a ‘new’ voice and presence on the UK music scene. Its quintet of songs recalling whispers of Steve’s influences such as early Clapton, John Mayer, David Gray, The Eagles and Turin Breaks but within unique heartfelt and infectious melodic romances of sound.

Launched live in New York City at the Rockwood Music Hall in November 2014, the release swiftly lured attention and acclaim, success backed by a live hunger which has seen Steve over the past few months play the Country 2 Country Festival at the London O2, Rhythms Of The World Festival, and The Edinburgh Fringe as well as other career defining venues, intimate settings and local radio stations. An appetite for Steve’s poetic mix of lyrics and warm acoustically driven sound was enflamed again with the recent unveiling of new single ‘Hold Me Close’. The song, which features the equally alluring tones of East London singer Gemma Mewse, has quickly garnered glowing reviews and attention from radio and publishers whilst drawing new fans with its rich emotion aligned to melodic artistry.

Steve Young is creating a stir all of his own now, and in a landscape calling out for something fresh to immerse in, his music is a tonic growing in popularity and vocal acclaim by the day. With his current Pledge Music campaign completed at 157% of target Steve has finished recording his debut album at London's Chocolate Factory Studios due for release in July 2016 (check the News page for updates)

After a successful run of gigs supporting Nashville Country Star (and daughter of June Carter / Johnny Cash) Carlene Carter, acclaimed Blues Singer Jo Harman, sold out support gigs for Ramin Karimloo at the Union Chapel & Islington Assembly Halls in Jan and another sold out show for Time Out London's 'Rising Stars of UK Country' at 229 The Venue in March - 2016 has most definitely started with a ‘Bang’.

In June Steve attended the world renowned Chris Difford Songwriting Retreat working & writing alongside artists such as Beth Nielsen Chapman, Graham Gouldman, Nik Kershaw, Kevin Montgomery which also resulted in performing with Eurythmics' - Dave Stewart at a special church concert for the charity Church Keys. 

BBC Radio 2 legend Bob Harris recently played recent single 'In My Dreams' on his BBC Radio 2 show as well as recording three tracks for his 'Under The Apple Tree' sessions later released on the Whispering Bob TV channel

In January / February 2017 Steve embarked on a 30 date tour of Caffe Nero Stores around the UK as their 'Artist Of The Month' to promote the release of his third single In My Dreams from his debut album Troubadour which is OUT NOW on all major download stores

April/May saw a long awaited collaboration with Nashville producer Justin Johnson and, with the help of some of the UK's finest musicians, The Great North Road EP was recored at Liverpool's Parr Street Studios. Released in August the EP is only available in CD format. Spotify & iTunes have been excluded as an experiment to see if more CD's would be bought by fans after gigs - so far YES!

With Caffe Nero still playing Steve's songs every day in-store, new songs waiting to be recorded, a UK Tour in OCT/NOV including dates opening for Tristan Mackay and a few choice gigs already in the diary for 2018 things are still going strong for someone who released an EP in 2014 "just to tick it off my list...."
