Metal2theMasses
It's been a while since our last post and there's been a lot happening!
We competed in the first heat of Metal2theMasses in February where we competed against 2 other awesome bands! From Barrow we had Groblin & the Ballistics and from Lancaster we had Iron Sea Wolf. There were more, but due to various reasons the other 2 had to pull out. It was a great night which showcased just what the North is capable of!
We were declared the winners along with runners up, Groblin & the Ballistics!
This set the stage for the semi-finals which just happened on good Friday.
We put on a coach as a way of paying back or loyal fans from the motherland (Kendal). We took 40+ rowdy, barmy Solomites with us and stormed the great border city!
This really was a step up in competition and the bands that night were phenomenal. The running order was as follows:
Groblin & the Ballistics Severe Lacerations Solomon N3RV Clunge Destroyer
I would strongly recommend checking all these bands out.
Groblin kicked things off and did so in style. They managed to get a pit going almost from the get go - no mean feat when your the first band. Next up were Severe Lacerations who had a very similar style to the previous band, although they had an extra guitarist which really amped up the heaviness. We were up next and with the support of our clan we really got the party going. There was beer splashing everywhere, glasses getting smashed! we even had people crawling on the stage!!! N3RV were up next, all the way from Poland and man, were they good! very Nu-Metal (but good) and exceptionally tight! The hometown favourites, Clunge Destroyer were the final band bringing their own style of punk metal. Unfortunately, due to things running over, we had to leave to get our coach back. not before the Kendal faction gave a good chant of SO-LO-MON! during their set. Given the level of banter these boys were dishing out in the run up, this was quite apt and gave us all a chuckle.!
Thankfully, the fact we took such an awesome crowd meant we came runner up to the winners, Severe Lacerations, securing our spot in the finals at the Brickyard in Carlisle.
The heat is now on to perfect the set list and get that spot at Bloodtsock
