‘Lovely music … properly steeped in those good folk traditions’ - BBC Radio Solent, September 2017
‘Come the Turn of the Season is a beautiful album, serious without being solemn and delicately performed’ - folking.com
Combining heartfelt and intelligent storytelling with close harmonies, finger-picked guitar and clawhammer banjo, Shayler & Brooke make contemporary folk music that draws on traditions from both sides of the Atlantic.
Writing in response to personal losses, family history and political troubles, they have captivated audiences with their raw vulnerability, humour and warmth.
Shayler & Brooke comprise of Londoner Kate Shayler (vocals and banjo) and Dorset-born Chris Brooke (vocals, guitar, violin). The couple began writing songs together after performing at a family party in 2014. They launched their debut EP, Colouring Outside the Lines, at London’s Green Note in September 2017, and released the single 'Orleans' in July 2018.
Their debut album Come the Turn of the Season was released on 1st April 2020.
