Breakout - Alone EP
KILLAZ105
Breakout returns to the Serial Killaz imprint with another EP filled to the brim with dirty jump up bangers.
In recent years, the young DJ and producer has rapidly grown to become one of the hottest prospects on the jump up circuit and a natural fit for the label. In his latest release, two solo tracks and two collaborations channel a series of raw emotions straight from the heart of the burgeoning artist.
Best Intentions starts off proceedings and is a clean cut of pure jump up grot. An eerie melody and two-step drum pattern in the introduction paves the way for another fat drop in typical Breakout style; rich snares, weighty kicks, and myriad basses woven together are set to turn heads and twist faces.
Magenta makes an appearance on One Third. Uncompromising from the start, melodic plucks and drum rolls quickly maximise energy levels. A call and response bassline combines signature sound design techniques and production standards from both producers as the track rolls out in furious synergy.
Funky Man, a collaboration with StillZ, utilises gentle reverb-laden plucks and pads which give way to major wompage after 32 bars. Circa-2015 jump up influences are on full display, testament to the justified staying power of this sound.
The title track, Alone, closes the EP and takes its name from one of the main feelings conveyed by this release. Deeply personal and instantly recognisable by its thick drums and squelchy bassline, this tune is sure to dispel any feelings of solitude and unite legions of ravers in the dance.
