Music for the darkest hour
In anticipation of Jay Auborn’s live mix of the Rock n Roll Angels ‘Lifelines’ EP next week, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process, which took place in August and September, at dBs Music, in Bristol.
Each instrument needed to be recorded in isolation: the drums were first; followed by bass, guitars, vocals, piano, percussion, harmonium, and lap steel guitar.
One of my guitar overdubs involved me playing the body of my Gibson SG with a pair of soft beaters, whilst it was suspended from a frame.
This short video - shot on phones during the recording - offers an insight into the process: https://youtu.be/-UcemrIWzjs
