Prince Bellerose’s sound transcends the bounds of traditional genres. Melding influences from classic jazz, funk, soul, r&b, and indie rock, they strive to evoke something both old and new. In their debut single “Howl,” guitarist Valentin Prince’s sultry vocals mix with bassist Daniel Bellerose’s warm, powerful tone, creating a subtle yet captivating vocal interplay. With the addition of Joseph Harder’s manic drumming, their music fits in the same vein as Vulfpeck, Fat Night, and Durand Jones & The Indications.
The band draws inspiration from their shared, life-long interest in the Beat poets, and from the likes of Otis Redding, The Doors and Miles Davis. They are trying to push the envelope, and this means pushing themselves. But the decision to put so much time and effort into the band is a given; they are motivated by their passion for music. “I honestly feel like the biggest thing that drives me is that I need to do this," Bellerose said, "I have this thing in me, and if I don’t get it out of me I’m going to die."
