Hop Up [CD]
Remus spine, with fold out poster
Orlando Weeks second solo album ‘Hop Up’ is a buoyant upbeat record, its relative simplicity doesn’t feel at all minimalist. Intriguing off-kilter touches flourishes ebb and flow at every point, each time sparking an interest but never overwhelming the songs. Produced by Deek Recordings founder Bullion and featuring inspiring contributions from Katy J Pearson, Willie J Healey and Ben Reed (best known as part of Frank Ocean’s live band). While ‘A Quickening’, Week’s debut solo record after The Maccabees disbanded, took us to the expectations of new life, and now ‘Hop Up’ celebrates the now with ebullient pleasure.
