Written in the wake of our debut EP this single hold the final pieces to "Put A Plaster On It". It's a heavy soundtrack to the birth of our band and its humble beginnings.
“Pull” is a window into the strains of a destructive relationship. How the stress of arguing takes its toll on all areas of your life and how you begin to question yourself and your place in everything. Lyrically it's dark, following the twists and turns of a toxic relationship showing the slow decay of self-confidence, self-worth and happiness. Musically we wanted it to heavily contrast the lyrics with an upbeat feel and a bounce in its step giving it almost a sarcastic tone.
“Tell Me I’m Pretty” is a song about modern society’s obsession with image. It’s not a bad thing that everyone’s going to the gym and keeping fit and healthy. It’s the excessive and obsessive involvement of social media in these personal journeys that grinds our gears. Influencers depict an idealistic and unattainable lifestyle that everyone’s so desperately trying to have themselves. It drives a never-ending vortex of anxiety and narcissism. You find people filming their workouts at the gym gawking themselves in the mirror desperate for a couple of likes on the gram dreaming of being sent free teeth whitening kits for a living. The gym has become about vanity over health. I think the majority of young lads now feel an obligation to go to the gym like a rite of passage or something. It’s all well and good just keep your bent over row, low cal dinners and gym shark endorsements to yourselves. The irony is that it’s probably a fairly decent track to work out too.
