Formed in 2015, Lilith and the Knight have come a long way since being put together by frontwoman Lilith. After several lineup changes, the band now consists of the two original members, Lilith and Adam, who handle vocals and guitars respectively, and are joined by Francesco on the drums and Tom on the bass. The band took its name from Lilith; the mythical creature of the night who, in Jewish folklore was Adam's first wife and willingly left the Garden of Eden after refusing to submit to Adam’s will. In other tales she is portrayed as a thrilling female demon, thought to terrorize the night, and the band certainly live up to her persona.
Since their formation, Lilith and the Knight have already played headline shows at prestigious venues such as The Borderline and the main stage at Butlins as well as a whole host of other venues around London and the South East. Between all 4 members, the group has a wealth of gigging experience (including Lilith being the lead singer for the UK’s official NFL band) and it certainly shows in their live performances. Extremely tight, and unmistakably well-rehearsed, the musicianship of all 4 members is exemplary, with frequent improvisation within the framework of each song; a Lilith and the Knight show is always musically engaging, and you’ll never see the same thing twice. Visually the band stand apart too. Stunning frontwoman Lilith is at times both delicate and fierce, and commands the respect and attention of any audience. With stages beautifully dressed with candelabras and ivy, and all 4 members dressing to impress, they’re not easily forgotten.
The broad array of influences of all four members, from The Beatles to Slipknot, has amalgamated to form a sound that is unique to Lilith and the Knight. Dynamically fluid; from a whisper to a thunderclap, the music invites you in then shakes you to the ground with an intoxicating blend. The rhythm section provided by Francesco and Tom is thunderous and unwavering, and carries the band. Adam’s guitar playing is lightning. Vicious crunching riffs, supersonic solos and hendrixian use of feedback really add a spark to the music. And Lilith’s vocals absolutely soar. From tantalizing melodic phrases to full on venomous screams. Often accompanied by harmonies provided by Adam, their voices perfectly blend to take the music to new heights.
With the debut single Wake Up achieving success, having been play-listed on Total Rock Radio for 6 weeks and receiving play on over 29 radio stations, as well as live interviews with FUBAR radio and The Stoop in the USA, and a live review featured in Powerplay magazine, the best is still yet to come for Lilith and the Knight. A brand new 4 track EP is readily on the way and the band are continually writing new material and evolving. The foundations of the essence of Lilith and the Knight are concrete, and they’re only going to build higher and higher.
