Nature Finds A Way
" Nature finds a way. A sunbeam breaking through the dull grey sky. A flower climbing out of the smallest crack in a cold concrete slab. Each of them bringing a flash of colour, a sense of life, a sense of hope and growth in an unresponsive world. When all appears moribund, corrupted by time, and at an impasse, nature finds a way.
And so it is with Lawoftheland. A local band that have already begun to etch themselves onto the Liverpool scene. In a world of instant gratification, they prefer to take you on a journey. In a world where you experience life through little yellow emoticons, Lawoftheland prefer to get under your skin, fire up your neural system and remind you what it is to feel directly. They don't have a singer telling you what the song is about. They have no lyrics explaining what you should be thinking about. They serve up the opportunity of exploration, inviting you to climb, crawl, fly, travel how you will to discover you and where you are. Each person open to their own interpretation of their personal passions as the journey is shared.
The music of Lawoftheland is a powerful medicine in a world of throwaway pop tunes manufactured by grey suits interested in bank accounts and the Xmas number 1. These are three young lads creating living, breathing expressions of how much more exists than the mundane hit industry. The music is sensitive and affecting, yet robust and powerful. Finely crafted and vibrant they have avoided the pitfalls of falling into an avant-garde muzak look-a-like band, instead creating potent, welcoming, moving and ultimately enjoyable music.
Tonight was no exception. As underscore to the accomplished American band 'Listener' at the Buyers Club, Lawoftheland once again proved that although they have only done a handful of live gigs, they are that shining light, that splash of colour, that freshness so needed by our throwaway styrofoam world. Nature always finds a way, that's the Lawoftheland."
