James Riley is an award-winning folk & soul songwriter from south London with a rapturous live show that has drawn acclaim and prompted comparisons with John Martyn, Bill Withers, Joni Mitchell & Sting.
Half American and raised in London, James recently spent 2 years in Nashville, where he met Grammy-winning producer Matthew Odmark, with whom he recorded his forthcoming debut album “TRANSATLANTICA” (out Spring 2019).
Shortly after returning from Nashville in 2017 James released a new single and accompanying music video, and was nominated for Fender Undiscovered Artist of the Year after festival sets at Glastonbury, Wilderness, and Secret Garden Party. This year has seen James win 2nd place in the Coffee Music Projecct 2018, several barnstorming festival sets and Maverick and Shrewsbury Folk Festival, and tours across the US & UK with shows in Nashville, New York City and London.
The start of 2019 marks the threshold of an exciting new chapter for this transatlantic songsmith, with two new singles, a full album and a UK tour slated for release over the next few months... anything is possible
