Black Doldrums

Black Doldrums are a London-based duo comprised of Kevin Gibbard and Sophie Landers. The primary element of Black Doldrums’ update on 90’s effects driven psych, is their intense and rebellious approach, merging underlying rock ‘n’ roll songs with euphoric and contemporary psychedelia. This is a consistent theme found throughout the band’s aesthetic, whether implied lyrics or illusive artwork.

The band recently collaborated with legendary shoegaze producer Pat Collier (whose work includes The Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream, Ocean Colour Scene as well as various Creation Records releases). Their second EP on Club AC30 Records ‘She Divine’ was released in September 2019, 9 months after their first EP ‘Sad Paradise’. Both records sold out on pre-order in 3 weeks, whilst ‘She Divine’ entered the top 20 iTunes ‘All Genre Charts’ in the UK and New Zealand.

Black Doldrums have toured the U.K. and California as well as playing one off shows in Ireland, France and New York. Most recently the band played a host of festivals over the summer and completed a series of shows with The Vacant Lots.
