Guitar Reflections: More Contemplative Practice on Six Strings (Printed Version)
Stillwater Method: Book Two
For over fifty years I have loved playing the guitar, finding an inner quietness when engaged in playing repeated patterns which I find pleasing.
In this follow-up edition my first method book, ‘No Mind Guitar’, I offer simple, easily learned pieces for practice and enjoyment.
The selections included here are in no way definitive of the wide variety of guitar patterns which are possible. They are only meant to serve as a beginning. It is my hope that these simple harmonic phrases can open new possiblities in your guitar experience, perhaps even leading you to discover your own original patterns.
The pieces in Guitar Reflections are divided into three sections:
Exercises:
Repeated fret and picking movements to gain more dexterity on the instrument.
Patterns:
Using simple chord changes and picking styles, gaining a sense of easy movement on the fretboard.
Etudes:
More melodic pieces, often defined as a short musical composition, typically for one instrument, designed as an exercise to improve the technique or demonstrate the skill of the player.
