11:00 LOU BECKERMAN SINGING WORKSHOP
12:45 CURFEW
Who is it for? You might feel you can’t sing but would like to. Perhaps you have done lots of singing but are looking for a different approach. Larks and frogs, car-crooooooners and bathtub-balladeers - you are ALL most warmly welcome. No previous experience of singing needed. If you lack confidence, all the more reason to come! All you need is a willingness to explore in a safe and supportive environment, and a wish to enjoy the uplifting rewards of music-making and singing together.
*Note: *This workshop was extremely popular last year and sold out shortly after going on sale, so book quickly to avoid disappointment.
Lou Beckerman Lou’s career in the arts has spanned several genres - as an established jazz vocalist and songwriter (including TV and two albums); as an artist-illustrator exhibiting widely, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and as a writer and poet. Her former work as a health professional has also enabled her to integrate these elements as a healing arts practitioner and coach. She was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for her work in music as medicine in palliative care. Lou has also been the musical director for several community choirs.
She has been facilitating voice workshops and one-to-one tuition for many years. Her aims are to sensitively and creatively help free the natural voice, using an approach that is completely non-judgmental. Lou says: "It’s my passion to help uncover the layers which prevent people from using their natural and authentic voices freely and healthily. The tools we use for singing are the tools we need for a healthy society, and it is often a reflection of society that we become so inhibited in our sound, whether for singing or speaking."
