Setting My Soul Free
The first instalment of the Fetherstone self-titled 4-track EP
Following her break-out single ‘Don’t Look Back’ released in November 2016, Fetherstone, in collaboration with London-based producer Harry Tarlton (Signed to Kobalt Music Group, Chi), presents ‘Setting My Soul Free’, the first instalment of her self-titled 4-track EP. Under the guise of Fetherstone, her new electronic-pop-folk infused persona, Australian songstress Briana Cowlishaw brings the tradition of the troubadour storyteller into the modern electronic pop genre through her innate passion for storytelling. The EP will see one track released each month from April through to July, launching at The Troubadour on April 7.
‘Setting My Soul Free’ reflects on the vulnerability of falling in love, letting go and accepting all your flaws enough to let someone else into your world. Cowlishaw explains her raw and open approach to her songwriting as ‘…the only way I can write music. When I accept my vulnerability and allow myself to be completely honest with my lyrics, I can stop trying to create and the creation just happens on it’s own. It’s not always easy, though, to stand strong and look at your weaknesses face on.’
