“Apart from cycling to and from work, the highlight of my day today has been a trip to Tesco to buy milk.

It puts me in mind of a song what I wrote called ‘Shopping for Food’. It doesn’t refer to the current situation as it was written over 20 years ago, but I am always fascinated by the way in which new events change the context of old work.

The song was written when I was at quite a low ebb, and the trip to Tesco for the weekly shop was the then highlight of my week. A version of this song would have been included in the second Santa Cruz album.”
