The Cohen Sisters - Our Time Will Come
Our Time Will Come relates to a combination of experiences during the coronavirus pandemic, including trying to contact GP surgeries and a lengthy visit to Sainsbury’s.
The Cohen Sisters are chiefly Linda and Geoff Gorton. They formed the outfit in 2019 after being invited by the Reverend Jonny Kincaid to perform backing vocals on ‘Death Song’ from his album ‘We Were Young and We Were Happy and We lived up in the Trees but Now the Good Times Are Over and We’re All Down on Our Knees’ in the style of vintage Leonard Cohen. Geoff has played in a number of popular beat combos including Rorschach, the Harpoons, Santa Cruz, Beatnik Filmstars and Arrest Charlie Tipper. Linda sings mainly in the garden and is also a member of Arrest Charlie Tipper. The Cohen Sisters play a blend of melodic folk noir and edgy, noisy pop - always from an angle of at least 45 degrees. Lyrically, in a world so full of absurdities, there is no shortage of things to write about. Their debut album ‘The Boomtown Diaries’ is a collection of tracks loosely addressing austerity, populism, extinction and the strange state of the world in general. And a song about the Moon. The Cohens are occasionally supported by other musicians on lead guitar, percussion, cello etc. The Cohen Sisters will not be appearing anywhere near you soon. Recently cancelled shows include support slots with the Flatmates and Arrest Charlie Tipper. The ‘Boomtown Diaries’ will be released at an unspecified date in the future, the future, the future......
