Triple Burger Challenge - This Saturday (8th)!
40 Shillings on the Drum and Brighton Burger create the ‘Triple Burger Challenge’!
On Saturday 8th July 2017, top Brighton restaurant, ‘Brighton Burger’ (top ten on Tripadvisor) and ‘40 Shillings on the Drum’ are joining forces to raise money for the Rocking Horse Appeal, and launch the band’s own crowdfunder with PledgeMusic.
‘Brighton Burger’ will be handcrafting a limited edition special of epic proportions. For one day only, those up for the challenge will be able to purchase the ‘40 Shillings on the Drum’ triple. Three locally sourced, half-pound beef burgers, topped with Coddle (bacon, sausage and potato) and Guinness gravy, and sat on crispy cabbage. Of course, a regular-sized, single burger version will also be available on the day (and for the following fortnight), alongside the excellent assortment usually on offer.
Those taking part in the triple burger challenge, will be timed whilst they consume their glorious meal. There will be a score board on display and the fastest time at the end of the day will win a free burger voucher for a future visit, a download of the band’s debut E.P., ‘Beggars Who Believe’, and also have a limited edition, ‘I Had The Guts!’ 40 Shillings on the Drum t-shirt posted to them after the event.
Lead singer, Dan Scully, and Brighton Burger entrepreneur, Julian Cook, are lifelong friends. 40 Shillings on the Drum were looking for a unique way to launch the band’s 60 day crowdfunding project to raise funds to record their debut album when they came up with the idea for a burger challenge. Scully then approached Cook with the suggestion of a collaboration and the chef jumped at the chance. After a meeting to exchange ideas, they decided that they would also like to raise funds for a charity.
When Julian was 11 years old, he was hit by a car and suffered life threatening injuries. Without a doubt, he wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the Rocking Horse Appeal supporting the Royal Alexandra Children's hospital. Julian has often donated to the appeal, and because of his personal experience, they were the obvious suggestion when deciding on a charity. Dan Scully and the rest of 40 Shillings on the Drum were more than happy with the choice. The band will also be donating 10% of the funds raised through their crowdfunder, which will run from the 8th July to the 6th September, to the cause.
40 Shillings on the Drum and Brighton Burger’s ‘Triple Burger Challenge’ will begin at midday on Saturday 8th July 2017 and finish at 6pm. The band will be performing two acoustic sets at 12:30 and 3pm. The crowdfunder will run from Saturday 8th July until Wednesday 6th September 2017.
