Review for my new album
Being autistic, the English language (he hails from High Wycombe, near London, UK) did not seduce him to express the music that naturally flowed inside him, like bright silver. His art, which gives him a true rest/satisfaction of mind, is best expressed with a guitar. Uli Jon ROTH, having recently heard some of his repertoire (22 albums since 1997), said "Chris plays with a lot of feeling and connects perfectly with deep emotions, which is very rare these days."
His godfather, Roger NEWELL, played bass for Rick WAKEMAN and he was able to attend rehearsals as a child. Quitting the drums to adopt the guitar, he spent many years trying to become Jimi HENDRIX one day and David GILMOUR the next. The school curriculum ended in 1980 with little qualification result but an award for his musical achievements. This is what opened the doors for him to the Boilerhouse studio in High Wycombe where he recorded records with prestigious artists: Howard JONES, THE SEX PISTOLS etc. The 80s were used to play with several great musicians.
This course was, of course, a determining factor in Chris's journey. It has become a diaper palette that does not lack any color. On the contrary, he created new ones. Recent albums, more and more complete; Otherside of the Sky, Chronology, Angels Share and Merchant of Tarshish, which is the subject of this article, show constant evolution in the finesse of his sensitive play, touch, sound Feeling. A multitude of sensations envelop us, emotion conquers us and we remain captivated by these enchanting beaches. Particularly immersive, this album – which is certainly not the last – only releases us once the last note is completed. Speaking of note, no shred or unnecessary technical scrapping; everything is in place, arranged with a very safe taste and letting the pieces breath. The production highlights each instrument perfectly. Particularly talented, Chris composed everything "head" from the drums. Other instruments have been added next. He tells us: "The music on these albums is not repeated at all, it came straight out of my head and recorded in real time.
It's an autistic gift, the best way to describe it is Mozart's syndrome; I can hear a piece of music and play it perfectly on various instruments, but then instantly create clever variations, very similar is in Mozart. I prefer to compose than practice, so I never study, I discover. "I take my guitar and just create every time I play it." Any medal upside down, other musicians may get frustrated because Chris is anything but a teacher. Pedagogy is foreign to him. He doesn't need much repetition and it can be annoying at times.
