Roger Daltrey - McVicar
The Bespoke Edition
Had Roger Daltrey been content to remain frontman for The Who, his legacy would have been secured. Yet when he took on the lead role in the film adaptation of the group’s groundbreaking Tommy album, a parallel career unfolded before him. As an actor, Daltrey has appeared in everything from horror flicks to TV crime dramas, but it’s 1980’s McVicar that arguably had one of the biggest impacts of his career.
Not only playing the real-life armed robber John McVicar in a big-screen adaptation of McVicar’s jailbreak memoir, McVicar By Himself, Daltrey also recorded the film’s soundtrack. Produced by Jeff Wayne, the album went Top 40 in the UK and Top 30 in the US, remaining Daltrey’s biggest chart success for another 34 years.
Strictly limited to 250 copies, McVicar: The Bespoke Edition pairs the film and album together in a handsomely crafted collectors’ box set featuring replica memorabilia it would take a trained burglar to find today.
