David Bowie & Pat Metheny - The Falcon & The Snowman
Bespoke Edition
Released to acclaim in 1985, The Falcon And The Snowman is the stranger-than-fiction tale of espionage based on the real-life story of Christopher Boyce (played by Timothy Hutton) and Andrew Daulton Lee (played by Sean Penn), two childhood friends who, in the 1970s, sold US satellite secrets to the Soviet Union.
Soundtracking this improbable tale is the equally improbable music of virtuoso jazz guitarist Pat Metheny. Working with pianist Lyle Mays, Metheny created a tense and brooding work enhanced by the National Philharmonic Orchestra. Bolstered by lyrics penned by David Bowie, the album’s sole single, This Is Not America, went to No.14 in the UK, becoming one of Bowie’s biggest hits of the 1980s.
Strictly limited to 250 copies, The Falcon And The Snowman: The Bespoke Edition pairs the film and album together in a handsomely crafted collectors’ box set featuring replica memorabilia, original copies of which could only be afforded through selling state secrets. As well as the Falcon And The Snowman DVD and accompanying CD soundtrack, The Falcon And The Snowman: The Bespoke Edition includes a numbered certificate, plus reproduction:
