Propulsive, intrepid and heady with melody, new Manchester three-piece, Berlin Berlin, combine the melancholic throb of 80’s electronic, the energy of 90’s dance and the experimental mind-set of Krautrock to fashion something truly euphoric.
Promising, ‘dark beauty on epic scale’, their sound is both immediate and vast, and the band name influences as varied as Aphex Twin and Dennis Wilson and space rockers Spiritualized. Both experimental and populist, other reference points include psychedelic indie rockers, House of Love, the art-house hybrid electronica of pre-stadium Simple Minds, Bristol’s Massive Attack, and the classic big beat sound of The Chemical Brothers.
Berlin Berlin are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to their debut album. To date, the band have released one single – ‘Josef’ and a free download track - the stunning rework of Furniture’s Opus 'Brilliant Mind’. The band have already built a solid support in the North and garnered attention from the likes of XFM’s Eddie Temple Morris, The Daily Mirror, Digital Spy and The Huffington Post. In 2014, they were invited to Google’s headquarters to record a live session for YouTube.
