OPTIMISTIC. A Poem
I have been quiet musically,
But heavily into poetry this summer.
Here's me on a train
Racking my brain
With some remaining time I had
On an adventurous journey.
Below is a poem I wrote, inspired by what has been my summer anthem.
Optimistic by August Greene - Check out their Tiny Desk NPR concert too. It is epic.
A new album will be on its way...I promise.
Ci vediamo.

OPTIMISTIC
Opt-in, for mystic
Opt-out, by mistake
Early is on time
On time is late
Late we can’t accept
In this day of ache
.
The niggle will giggle
At the back of your brain
These signals
Say it’s okay
To walk down this hectic
Way
Where no one will say
Anything
To disrupt your decision
Of bravery
.
Call it healthier
Than slavery
.
Hiding like a shy beast in the back row
Guilt drips down your sleeve
And elbow
Whilst putting your hand up
The joints in your fingers
Groan
You ask – why
Don’t I own
Anything?
.
I owe this to myself
.
To detach and detune
Uncover the bruise
That lay heavy in the news
Of my social circle
.
It was obvious
That it was going to happen
Soon
.
People have seen me go through it
Discomfort, abuse
Of not choosing
A pathway
Which suits
And sees fit.
.
Now it has clicked
To use
My muse
And play to my strengths
.
Pass through
The past tense
Become present
At the front of my head
Tension will release benevolence
And feed on what is most relevant
.
This elegance
Has transformed
My optimism
.
To finally feel
Incredible instead.
